Flowroute powers voice and messaging services with the nation’s largest network reach, providing reliable and simplified operations that can be scaled on demand. We have been working to expand our Points of Presence (PoPs) to deliver the highest quality and most reliable service to our customers.
A PoP is an access area, demarcation point, or physical location at which two or more networks or communication devices share a connection. PoPs help Flowroute create dynamic network capacity and increased reliability for customers because of the increased number of systems. Flowroute currently operates a number of modern cloud PoPs around the U.S., as well as a legacy PoP in Nevada. We are retiring the Nevada point as we continue pursuing cloud-based network expansion.
Network expansion provides our customers with a number of benefits including more connectivity options across the U.S. (and globally), diverse interconnections to deliver higher call quality and failover, increased access to the latest technology to enhance network resiliency and the enhanced ability to operate and scale in real-time through the cloud.
By connecting to Flowroute’s PoPs, customers can add service resiliency to their voice communications as well as enable a specific edge strategy for inbound and outbound calls on their accounts. We have created a configuration guide to provide customers with technical specifications for connecting to the variety of PoPs and accessing inbound and outbound voice services. Flowroute also offers a “Preferred PoP” feature, which lets customers set their preferred inbound PoP based on location – allowing added flexibility and room for growth.
Nevada Retirement
In 2018, Flowroute launched its new Edge strategy. This campaign introduced more modern PoPs across international and domestic locations. The upgrade allowed for a significantly improved network performance in key measurements such as response time, throughput, and scalability.
The California PoP was retired in November 2018 and created a pathway to upgrade the remaining legacy technology. We are now planning the next stage of this process. The Nevada PoP will be retired on June 11, 2020. This milestone is an important step in our network evolution to offer a completely upgraded system that provides our customers with enhanced reliability and quality regardless of their location.
How Does the Nevada Retirement Affect You?
If you are using Nevada as your SIP connection, you will need to reconfigure your SIP address to the new PoPs. We have created several resources to help guide the PoP reconfiguration process. No action is required if you have already moved to one of our new PoPs.
